On the 29th of November was the night of the St Luke’s 2015 concert. It was about a dragon named Puff, who as came out of his cave years after his one and only friend Jackie Paper passed away. Puff try’s to find himself a fairy tale but no one seems to want him, will he ever find himself a fairy tale. My scene was sleeping beauty and I thought I did a pretty good job. Our class danced together and everyone was a stand out. The other scene I liked was Cinderella because they were really good dancers and they had a song I liked. Overall it was Great concert I rate it

Orangutans are an endangered species. It is estimated that about 19000-25000 orangutans are left in the while another 900 hundred orangutans are left in captivity. They are only found in the islands of Sumatra and Borneo in south east Asia. Lose of rainforest and poachers are they main reason that oranguatans are endangered. Websites such as the orangutan project help save the orangutans and with your help they can keep the population of orangutans at a safe level.

Today people from metro transport and the Whitehorse council came in to show us how to be  aware and safe around public transport . They told us what to do in a situation if you get lost. You have to call your parents or look up Google maps on your phone.

They explained how to use sustainable transport if you are going to a place nearby and about etiquette and how you  offer your seat to an elderly person or a person who is disabled . Here is a video of dumb ways to die we all sang along an we really enjoy it.DSCN3441

How have olive baboon adapted to change

Anthropologist Shirley Strum conducted a long term study on papio anubis also known as the olive baboon and how they adapted to change.

At the turn of the 20th century there were more baboons in Africa than people but now that has dramatically changed due to the increased human population and the climate and environmental changes.

Also parts of the land was being degraded by land hungry human and a noxious plant quickly spreading the Opuntia stricta also known as the prickly pear has  left animals with nothing to eat.

Because their food source was gone they had to find an alternative. Amazingly the baboon had found a way  eat the prickly pear without being sick. They roll the fruit in the dirt to get rid of the fine hairs on the fruit and after many years they are still thriving on the prickly pear. Other animal that tried to eat the fruit had disastrous consequences. Causing mouth and gut ulcers and internal bleeding from the fine hair of the fruit but the baboons have learn to cope. When their food grew grew back they still decided to eat the prickly pears because it is a source of vitamins sugar and water.

Today my class listened to Mulga Bills bicycle and this is my own poem

I love my bike because it is very  fun to ride

but I wouldn’t go down Dead man Creek because I would have died

I love to ride my bike, It is fun to go down a mountain track

but if I if I went down Dead man Creek I would have broken my back

I’m sick of being scared I’m going down Dead man creek

I plummeted into the water now my bike has a nasty leak

After 9 years of hurling through empty nothingness the spaceship New Horizon has finally reached Pluto and scientists are surprised because it is 20 km bigger than they thought it was. Although it is the fastest  space shuttle reaching speeds of up to 14,000 km it is about the size of a piano. After it reaches Pluto, New Horizons is going to travel to the Kuiper Belt- an icy cold belt full of asteroids. Who knows, maybe it will discover another planet.

On my holiday  I went down to Moama for 4 days and I saw the big Banana and the worlds biggest satellite dish.

Then I went over to my friends house for a sleepover and we watched a movie “Over the Hedge”

Also I played Basketball and we beat the top team by a single point.

And that’s what I did on the holidays
